The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, has evolved schemes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, including the current governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, in the 2023 elections.

Aliyu in an interaction with APC stakeholders in Sokoto East Senatorial District, noted that he had the opportunity to be appointed commissioner for eight years in Sokoto State, which main rival in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also had.  He, therefore, disclosed his plot to use his knowledge of how the system operates internally to engage the people of the state for his victory in 2023.

Aliyu was also a deputy governor and worked with the current Governor Tambuwal in the first tenure before he defected to the APC where he contested against Tambuwal and lost.

The APC governorship candidate promised that he will focus mainly on issues that will bring development to the state, not on individuals or attacks on personalities.

According to Aliyu, “Politics is all about development, respect for public opinion as well welfare through providing good leadership and governance.

“I am not ready to join issues nor attack personality but campaign on issues relevant to development, empowerment and welfare of the people in our state.”

Aliyu promised to revive and make vibrant all human oriented legacies of his political leader, former Governor Aliyu Wamakko, if elected governor in 2023. He urged APC stakeholders to sustain their commitment and woo more supporters to ensure the success of the party in the 2023 elections.

The APC State Chairman, Alhaji Isa Sadiq-Achida, noted that the meeting was convened to appreciate the local government area leaders and further motivate them on the party’s struggle ahead of the 2023 general elections. The senatorial district was said to be comprised of eight local government areas – Gwadabawa, Illela, Rabah, Wurno, Gada, Goronyo, Sabon Birni and Isa.
