Arsenal head into Sunday’s highly anticipated North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur knowing exactly what is at stake, after a dramatic Saturday in the Premier League blew the title race wide open.

The Gunners, top of the table, were handed major boosts as two of their closest rivals stumbled.

Champions Liverpool suffered a shock 3-0 home defeat to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest, while Manchester City missed the chance to close the gap after a 2-1 loss at Newcastle. Chelsea, however, maintained pressure with a 2-0 win over Burnley, moving to within six points of Mikel Arteta’s side.

With their competitors slipping, Arsenal now have a golden opportunity to extend their lead and strengthen their title credentials.

Manager Mikel Arteta is expected to emphasize the magnitude of the moment, especially as the Gunners face a demanding run of fixtures in the weeks ahead.

The North London Derby comes on the back of a frustrating result in Arsenal’s previous outing, where Brian Brobbey’s late equaliser denied them victory against Sunderland.

But with the unexpected setbacks suffered by Liverpool and Manchester City, momentum is firmly within Arsenal’s grasp—if they can seize it.

Spurs, however, present a formidable challenge. Under Thomas Frank, they have become one of the Premier League’s most resilient teams away from home.

They remain the only side unbeaten on the road this season, collecting 13 points from a possible 15 and showcasing improved defensive structure and tactical discipline.

Historically, recent derbies have tilted in Arsenal’s favour. Since Tottenham’s home win in 2022, North London has largely “been red,” with the Gunners winning five of the last six meetings. A victory on Sunday would give Arsenal four straight Premier League NLD wins for the first time in the modern era.

With title pressure rising, rivals faltering, and their next-door neighbours in top away form, Sunday’s clash promises to be one of the most pivotal and high-stakes derbies in recent years.
