Embattled Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha is said to have been released by the police according to his lawyer, Adesina Ogunlana.
James was reported to the police on April 19 by one Princess Adekola Adekanya at Sabo Police Station and transferred to the Gender Unit of the State CID, Panti, Yaba Lagos for proper investigation
Ogunlana had on Monday, May 17th, 2021 disclosed that; “Baba Ijesha has been granted bail about one hour ago. We are working to perfect the bail. He was granted bail on health grounds.”
“He hasn’t been released. He will be released after his bail conditions have been met. Baba Ijesha was granted administrative bail by the police in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties.”

“The terms of the bail include two reliable sureties- a blood relation and a level 10 civil servant.”
However, Baba Ijesha in a disclaimer, said; “I wish to state categorically and emphatically that I have never briefed the lawyer nor instructed him to act on my behalf in any way, or manner howsoever and whatsoever.”
“He (Ogunlana) is not my lawyer, and whatever you heard or hear from him concerning my lawyers, the police or court case, does not represent the true position.”
“He has been acting without my knowledge or consent.”
“The police never demanded money from me for the bail which was granted to me by a magistrate on health grounds. This is aside the N500,000 refundable bail bond which formed part of my bail conditions ordered by the court.”
“The bail bond is payable to the court registry’s account and not the police account.”
