Reports reaching National Daily now reveals that another English Premier League (EPL) manager could be facing sack.
It has been revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have scheduled an emergency meeting to discuss the possible sack of Nuno Espirito Santo after about four months as manager at White Hart Lane.
Spurs fans on Saturday watched their north London club thoroughly were beaten 3-0 at home by another under-pressure United side.
The fans at White Hart Lane could not hid their disappointment following Nuno’s decision to sub off Lucas Moura and was greeted with derision and chants of ‘You don’t know what you’re doing’, while some fans even sung ‘We want Nuno out’ after United netted their third
There is no doubt that Spurs latest result has helped in summarizing their woeful start to the season considering the fact that they have already lost four London derbies this season against Chelsea, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Arsenal.
Tottenham could only be two points off the top-four places, but their general performance has been below excellent as they have lost five games this season, more than 18th-placed Leeds, and have a -7 goal difference – only the bottom three have a worse record.
There have been questions over Spurs style of play under Nuno after they recently suffered a humiliating defeat against Vitesse in the Europa Conference League.
National Daily now gathers from the report from The Telegraph that Spurs’ hierarchy are holding emergency talks on Sunday over Nuno’s future and are giving serious consideration to dismissing the Portuguese coach now.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has also been under fire due to the club’s poor start, but the final decision over Nuno’s future is believed to rest with new managing director of football Fabio Paratici.
Speaking about what he wanted from a new manager, Levy said at the end of last season: ‘We are acutely aware of the need to select someone whose values reflect those of our great club and return to playing football with the style for which we are known – free-flowing, attacking and entertaining – whilst continuing to embrace our desire to see young players flourish from our Academy alongside experienced talent.’
Meanwhile, it is believed that Spurs are arguably playing even worse football now than they did under Jose Mourinho, with the form their former talisman and want-away striker Harry Kane noticeably dipping and the side playing without any clear plan or philosophy.
Nuno himself when asked about his job yesterday said: ‘I am only thinking about the next game and the next training session. There are not words that will solve the situation. When they [the fans] don’t see the team play the way they expect they are going to boo. I believe the players are better than that and it’s up to us to change the mood.’
