The Edo state government has reiterated its commitment to providing quality care and education for children in the state, molding them to be future leaders.
Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Phillip Shaibu, disclosed this on Saturday in statement to felicitate Nigerian children, particularly those from Edo State, as they join their counterparts around the world in celebration of this year’s international Children’s Day.
The Deputy Governor in his message, personally signed by him stated:
“On this auspicious occasion of the celebration of the 2023 Children’s Day, I strongly believe that it’s the right of every child to have access to quality and affordable education and healthcare, as well as other basic necessities of life, in a peaceful and secured environment.
According to Shaibu, “quality education, affordable healthcare and the total well-being of our children remain top priority of the Edo State Government, in pursuit of societal growth and national development”.

“We have demonstrated our strong commitment in this regard with the implementation of the EDO-Best program”.
“Despite the current economic and funding challenges facing the nation’s education sector, our administration has continued to do all within its powers to achieve better living conditions and greater access to quality healthcare and education for all our children and youths”.
The Edo State number two citizen applauded the indomitable spirit and sports prowess of Nigerian youths, especially the round-leather game
“It is a thing of joy that on this year’s Children’s Day, we can also celebrate the dominant spirit of our nation’s young football teams that are doing well at the international level”.
“Again, let me assure Edo people that we will not relent in our avowed commitment to engender economic prosperity in order to Make Edo Great Again”.
“We will also sustain and strengthen ongoing action and commitment to protect our children from violence, child-labour and trafficking, forced marriage and other related offences”.
“We, therefore, urge you to imbibe and exhibit the virtues of hard work, diligence, discipline, honesty, selflessness and patriotism, which are essential ingredients for the actualization of our vision of Making Edo Great Again”.
