Two members of Nasarawa State’s House of Assembly on Friday in Lafia separately called for peaceful co-existence by all ethnic groups in the state.
The two members are Mr. Daniel Ogazi, and Mr Danladi Jatau, representing Kokona East and Kokona West constituencies respectively in the state’s legislature.
They both said peaceful coexistence among all ethnic groups was needed for development to thrive in the state.
The lawmakers made the call while hosting members of Nasarawa State’s chapter of Hausa/Fulani Development Association led by its chairman, Dr Kabiru Dahiru.
They expressed appreciation of the visit and assured the association of readiness to support it at all times to succeed.
“Let’s continue to live in peace; respect constituted authorities and tolerate one another irrespective of our affiliations as peace is a necessary requirement for the development of every society,’’ Ogazi said.
In his remarks, Jatau said: “I urge all of us to continue to be our brothers keepers, God has created us to stay together, love and tolerate one another irrespective of our differences.’’
The duo also assured the association of their readiness to carry it along in political and other development issues for the overall peace and progress of the state.
Earlier, Dr Dahiru said that the visit was to appreciate the lawmakers for carrying all tribes in the state, especially Hausa/Fulani, along in political affairs.
He noted that the lawmakers fully supported the zoning formula of Kokona Local Government chairmanship among various tribes in the area.
This, he said gave room to one of the association’s members, Mr Awalu Adamu, to emerge as APC chairmanship election flag bearer in the area.
The chairman pledged the association’s total support to the lawmakers to enable them to succeed in office.
