Residents of Abesan Estate in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos are rallying behind fast-rising singer and songwriter, Olladave, whose growing popularity has earned him the nickname “The Lion of Alimosho.”

In recent weeks, the artiste has become a source of pride within the community, with many residents describing his success as a reflection of Abesan’s creative strength and resilience.

Blending Afrobeats, R&B and pop, Olladave’s music draws heavily from his immediate environment. His lyrics focus on themes of identity, perseverance and everyday life, resonating strongly with young people across Alimosho and beyond.

Rather than chasing mainstream trends, the singer has built his brand around authenticity, frequently referencing Abesan in his songs and public appearances.

His latest single, Rep Adugbo E, has further strengthened his connection with grassroots supporters. The track, which celebrates neighbourhood pride and community spirit, has gained traction on social media and at local events, where fans openly identify with its message.

Speaking on the growing recognition of the artiste, President of the Abesan Estate Residents Association, Mr. Sina Dare, said Olladave’s rise represents a positive narrative for the estate.

“For a long time, Alimosho has often been portrayed negatively in certain quarters. Seeing one of our own proudly represent Abesan on a larger stage is inspiring to our youths. Olladave is showing that talent and discipline can take you far,” Dare said.

The estate’s Youth Coordinator, Miss Yetunde Salami, described the singer as a role model for young creatives in the community.

“He has remained consistent and true to his roots. Many of our young people see themselves in him because he tells real stories about where we come from. That is powerful,” she noted.

According to community leaders, Olladave’s growing reputation extends beyond music. They say his emphasis on community identity has fostered renewed pride among residents, particularly youths seeking positive representation.

On social media platforms, fans frequently refer to him as “The Lion of Alimosho,” a nickname inspired by his bold lyrical style and outspoken pride in his background. At grassroots gatherings and estate events, his songs are increasingly becoming anthems of local solidarity.

Cultural analyst Tunde Balogun said community-driven artistes like Olladave often build lasting careers because of their organic support base.

“When an artiste carries his community along and reflects their realities, the loyalty is different. It creates a movement, not just a fan base. That grassroots authenticity can become a strong foundation for national recognition,” he explained.

As his profile continues to grow within Lagos’ competitive music scene, residents of Abesan say they are determined to support one of their own.

For many in the estate, Olladave’s journey underscores a broader message: that creativity and excellence can emerge from any neighbourhood, and that local stories—when told with courage and consistency—can command attention far beyond their point of origin.
