Dangote Cement, BUA Group, IHS, others shine at CSR Reporters Award

It was glitz and pageantry as Africa’s premier CSR and Sustainability news publication honors deserving organizations and individuals with awards at the 2022 CSR Reporters’ Philanthropic Awards on Social Impact and Sustainability practices in Nigeria, 2022.

The award ceremony which held on Saturday November 26th had dignitaries from across Nigeria in attendance had Mrs. Peju Ibekwe, CEO of Sterling One Foundation who doubled as an awardee and guest speaker charging leaders to increase their commitment to CSR and sustainability practices so as to engender a more equitable and just society.

She noted that everything begins and end with leadership and encouraged organizational leadership to look into investing more in charitable efforts across communities.

Mr. Eche Munonye, the publisher of CSR Reporters, Africa’s No. 1 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability news publication, while welcoming dignitaries noted that, if a country must make quicker progress, businesses must invest part of their profits to helping government build a more equitable society. He commended the awardees, particularly the religious organizations for their commitment to a better Nigeria with their CSR investment while also encouraging other organizations to imbibe the culture of giving back to the society.

Among the organizations that received award in different categories are Dangote Cement, carting away two awards as company with the Best waste reduction initiative and Best Sustainability reporting company of the year, Total Energies took the award of Best Company in Stakeholder Engagement, BUA Foods and BUA Cement were honored for their efforts in poverty alleviation and support for healthcare development in Nigeria.

IHS Nigeria was the biggest winner on the night with the award of the overall best sustainability company of the year and sustainability team of the year award for their commitment to proper and verifiable sustainable business practices across channels.

Other winning organizations are FCMB with an award for their efforts in supporting young entrepreneurs in their journey to business sustainability; Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFM) for their sports and youth development initiatives; Agro and Allied Industries, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Solid Rock Parish, Ojodu in Lagos who won award for the selfless efforts in education support across Lagos State among others.

The individual categories of the award had Dr. Emmanualla Zamba, GM of Lagos State Health Management agency winning the coveted award of Social Impact public servant of the year, Mrs. Cima Sholatan, Director of Sustainability and Corporate Communications at IHS Nigeria who won the award of sustainability leader of the year, Engr. Tukur Lawal, the Director of Health, Community Affairs, Safety and Environment at BUA group, Chief Michael Onuoha, Chaiman/CEO AILES Group, Mr. Rilwan Atiku, CEO, Riverton Homes and Properties, Mr. Olujimi Olufemi Aina, Director of New Growth Areas, Lagos Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Dikanna Okafor, CEO, Dyko Oil and Gas, Dr. Bone Chinye Efoziem, CEO and Founder, Strict Guards Security among others.
