The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has revealed that opposition and conspiracy from some quarters nearly derailed his journey to national leadership, but said his faith and divine intervention ultimately paved the way for his elevation.
Musa made the disclosure while sharing a personal testimony during a recent worship service at Conquerors Global Assembly in Abuja, where he reflected on what he described as a difficult period in his life and career.
According to the former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), it was God’s intervention at a critical moment that turned his situation around and led to his rise to a higher position of responsibility.
“We give God the glory for what has happened this year. Even when the enemy thought they were putting us down, they did not know God was going to lift us up,” Musa told the congregation.
He said some individuals believed they had succeeded in working against him, but were unaware that their actions would ultimately lead to his promotion.
“In their small minds they conspired and thought they had won. But as long as you have God as your pillar, you will win,” he said.

The Defence Minister encouraged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith, stressing that challenges are often necessary for growth and progress. He reminded worshippers that perseverance, coupled with faith in God, can turn adversity into victory.
“If you are never challenged, you can never improve in life. As Nigerians, we know we are strong, but we are stronger together with God Almighty. Nigerians are winners,” Musa added.
He also urged Nigerians to continue praying for the nation and its leaders, noting that collective faith and unity are essential for overcoming the country’s challenges.
Musa was nominated as Minister of Defence by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on December 2, following the resignation of his predecessor, Mohammed Badaru, who stepped down due to health-related issues. The President subsequently forwarded Musa’s name to the Senate for confirmation.
His appointment came after his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff, during which he played a key role in coordinating national security efforts across the armed forces.
