A delegation of the African Union (AU), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and the United Nations (UN) is expected to arrive Niger on Tuesday for dialogue with the coup leaders that ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.

It was gathered that a French broadcaster RFI reported that the delegation is set to arrive in the Nigerien capital city of Niamey “in the coming hours” to hold talks with the rebels on behalf of the international community.
The delegation is expected to negotiate on how to restore democracy in the country.

According to the broadcaster, the Nigerian government had also boasted that Nigeria could provide more than half of the 25,000 troops for the invasion of Niger if necessary, citing a Nigerian official.

It added that military from Senegal, Benin and Cote d’Ivoire could also participate in the operation.
