Democracy is a good thing where every human being has the right to talk or listened to and be heard. Yes, in Nigeria, every one talks about entrenching democracy and democratic practice in the governance of the people. It ought to be a number game, group decision making .

Unfortunately, in Nigeria, democratic practice is a farce and an aberration of the right choice by a group based on participatory decision making. For me, democracy as I have experienced it in Nigeria, the level not withstanding, it is a self- conceiting practice, an autocracy and peripherally fringy. It is a fringe democracy in the pedagogy of the oppressed. An individual can inflict mental torture on the majority of those involved in an electoral process by denying them of their rights to be heard, seen, felt or listened to.

The untold story of June 12 that led to the killing of MKO ABIOLA will be told to children yet unborn. The hidden truth will be unveiled and those behind the aborted outcome of having MKO ABIOLA as the chosen President by the mandate of the people accross political, religious and linguistic divides will sing the song of death until their children in all their generation lines are killed in the same manner. That was a giant strategic mistake for the nation.

At state and local government levels, democracy is slaughtered daily on the alter of expediency and a call for quick access to power. The greatest threat to democracy and the emergence of a true leadership for good governance at all levels is the party’s primary election by way of selection and a consensus building process , always conducted by a few and by those who believe they own the party. Nothing meaningful will ever come about in our extant political parties except there will be a few right thinking and visionary leaders who would take up the onerous responsibility to sanitize the parties and replace these “rulers” of the party by those who believe in a true democracy.

In a farce democracy, the fact that there is a silent majority does not mean all is well; it only means the vast silent majority are in a search of a leader to bear the cart and make things to happen.

The deadly consequences of malfeasance and aberrations to a farce democratic practice, where individual choices are disrespected or ignored will include but not limited to:

.* the final dearth of true democracy in the entire country’s electoral system

* the imminent disintegration of each political party

* the emerging culture of apathy and mistrust in each party by members.

* the pains and protracted tears of villains from a rigged electoral process

* the great disappointment and disillusionment amongst estranged party members particularly those who have wasted their investment in the electoral process

* Possible violence by irate people that could erupt everywhere, leading to deaths similar to that of MKO ABIOLA and other innocent persons.

* the big and embarrassing scandal in the social media space that has international dimension that this country is not democratic and therefore not a place to do business or a country destination for foreign investment.

Let’s all sing songs of justice, liberation , peace, freedom and liberty that true democracy entails.

Let’s say bye bye to fringe democracy, autocracy and malfeasance in the handling of the electoral process.

Let’s usher in the dawn of a new era, of true democracy where justice reigns, and the right of free choice by every Nigerian as to who leads them at all levels of governance is fully entrenched. An enduring culture of equity, justice and fair play in the conduct of election whether at the party level or the general or public election level is entrenched.

There is need for justice and the protection of other people’s right by other people by being involved. Are you concerned about the injustices done to other people? Are you happy because you are not the one that suffered the injustice?

Your voice is urgently required.

Democracy is about VOICE for those who are voiceless.

Dead of people , living or emotionally dead should not be the outcome.
