A new chapter has begun within the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Auto & Allied Sub-Sectoral Group, following the election of Dr. Olorunfemi Abidemi Eguakhide as Chairman.
The change of leadership took place on Thursday, August 7, 2025, marking a significant transition for the group as it looks to reposition itself within Nigeria’s automotive and allied industries.
Dr. Eguakhide, who currently serves as Group Deputy Managing Director of R.T. Briscoe (Nigeria) Plc, succeeds Otunba Adekunke Jaiyesimi, Deputy Managing Director of CFAO Mobility.
Jaiyesimi had completed two successful terms as chairman and was widely acknowledged for steering the affairs of the sub-sector with commitment and foresight.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Eguakhide expressed gratitude to members of the group for entrusting him with the leadership mantle.
“I want to thank everyone for the confidence reposed in me, and especially R.T. Briscoe (Nigeria) Plc, which continues to play a vital institutional role within the sector,” he said.
“I must also specifically thank Otunba Adekunke Jaiyesimi for a job well done and for the positive leadership he provided over the years.”
The new chairman outlined his agenda for revitalizing the group, emphasizing the urgent need to re-engage inactive members and foster a stronger, more united voice within the LCCI.
“Our first priority will be to aggressively drive membership. We need to bring everyone back into the fold. With broader participation, we can benefit from a wealth of experience and jointly craft effective strategies that shape advocacy, advise the larger chamber, and influence public policy,” Eguakhide stated.
He stressed that a vibrant Auto & Allied Group is critical for impactful engagement with government and other stakeholders in the country’s automotive ecosystem.
Dr. Eguakhide brings a wealth of experience in business leadership, operations, marketing, and human capital development, making him well-positioned to lead the sub-sector into a new era.
Born on March 28, 1968, he holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration and an MBA in Marketing Management from Enugu State University of Science and Technology. He is an alumnus of Lagos Business School’s Advanced Management Programme (AMP, 2016) at Pan-Atlantic University.
