The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has deployed 2, 250 personnel to ensure safety of lives and property during the Easter celebration.
The Lagos State Commandant of NSCDC, Adedotun Keshinro, gave the figure in a statement by the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Oluwaseun Abolurin, in Lagos on Thursday.
Keshinro said that following the declaration of Public Holidays by the Federal Government, the corps was determined to protect all critical national assets and infrastructure in the state across all sectors of the nation’s economy.
The Federal Government had declared public holidays for Friday and Monday for Easter celebrations.
The commandant said it was important to ensure adequate deployment of security personnel before, during and after such celebrations.
Keshinro, who addressed officers and men from various departments, units and tactical squads revealed that operational strategies have been re-invigorated to rid the state of criminals.
“We have re-strategise to eradicate nefarious activities of vandals and other criminal elements that are inimical to the economic growth and development of our country especially, before, during and after this season.
“The command will also be collaborating with other sister security agencies, across the state, to achieve optimal success during this crucial period.
“Officers and men of the command have also been charged to bring the right and appropriate impetus on board to protect all strategic locations points.
‘This also include facilities, right of ways, oil pipeline installations, religious centres, parks, gardens and all assets belonging to the Federal, State and Local Governments before, during and after the celebration,” he said.
The commandant assured that the corps would not rest on its oars at this period as it would rather deploy physical and non – physical assets to ensure a holistic security and safety during and after the celebration.
He emphasised that the command would intensify robust intelligence gathering, patrols, crime prevention mechanisms, Special responses by Special Female Squad (SFS), Quick Intervention Squad approach (QIS) and collective security approach.
He congratulated the Christian faithful on the season and admonished all to imbibe the tenets of Jesus Christ, which characterised this season.
Keshinro such tenets include love, sacrifice, passion, humility, tolerance among others.
