Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, has assured residents that the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo is fully committed to the transparent and effective use of state resources, particularly those allocated to key development projects and programs.
In a statement released in Benin City, Hon. Ohonbamu emphasized that every initiative embarked upon by the Okpebholo administration will be completed and directly beneficial to the people of Edo State.
“The transformative blueprint for Edo State’s development, known as Project SHINE—an acronym for Security, Health Care, Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Food Sufficiency, and Education—will not be just another document,” Ohonbamu said. “
The Governor is determined to bring it to life through visible, impactful projects like the ongoing Ramat Park flyover and others across the state.”
He stressed that Governor Okpebholo is not interested in presenting grandiose development plans that remain confined to paper. Instead, his focus is on tangible infrastructure and social investments that will uplift the daily lives of citizens across Edo State.
Criticizing past administrations, the Commissioner drew attention to the persistent challenges of flooding and erosion, despite what he described as enormous financial commitments during the previous government’s eight-year tenure.

“Edo people are no longer willing to accept a government that claims to have spent billions on flood and erosion control without sustainable results,” he noted. “The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman, Chris Nehikhare, himself admitted that the Obaseki administration left detailed plans for flood management. But the real question is: What happened to the huge resources allocated over the years?”
Hon. Ohonbamu asserted that from the statements and excuses provided by the PDP, it is clear that no meaningful or lasting solutions were put in place, despite the billions purportedly spent.
“The same individuals who failed to address these challenges for nearly a decade now expect the Okpebholo administration to reverse the damage in less than seven months,” he stated.
“Nonetheless, Governor Okpebholo will not use their failures as an excuse. He is committed to breaking that cycle by ensuring that every kobo budgeted under his watch is used for real solutions, not paper projects.”
The Commissioner urged residents to remain patient and supportive, reiterating that the administration is focused on performance and results—not propaganda.
“Ignore the political noise from the PDP,” he added. “Governor Okpebholo deserves commendation for his sincere effort to use public funds judiciously and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our people.
As the rainy season begins, many in Edo State are watching closely to see how the administration responds to the recurring flooding issues—one of several litmus tests for the newly positioned government.
