A personnel of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Remedy Yange, from Benue State, has been found dead on a street in Lagos under mysterious circumstances.
A video circulating on social media captured Yange’s lifeless body lying by the roadside, with bystanders attempting to identify him. According to reports, his identity was confirmed after his EFCC ID card was found in a bag located near his body.
Yange, who was reportedly on leave to spend time with his family in Lagos, had traveled from Benue State when the tragic incident occurred.
Confirming the incident, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale expressed the agency’s deep sadness and stated that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of Yange’s untimely death.
This death marks the second reported loss of an EFCC operative in a short period. On January 19, Aminu Salisu, an Assistant Superintendent Officer with the EFCC, was killed during an operation in Anambra.

Salisu’s death occurred after he and fellow operatives were allegedly targeted by Joshua Ikechukwu, a suspected internet fraudster, who shot Salisu during a raid. The suspect reportedly became aware of the investigators’ presence through closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at his residence and refused to cooperate despite their polite request for entrance.
The EFCC’s spokesperson confirmed that Salisu was killed while performing his official duties, and preliminary investigations indicated Ikechukwu was involved in online fraudulent activities, including coding and the distribution of questionable medical supplies.
Both cases have drawn significant attention, highlighting the risks faced by the commission’s officers while carrying out their anti-corruption efforts. The EFCC has promised to continue working closely with law enforcement to ensure justice is served.
