Fashola, Aregbesola take portfolio battle to Senate

Former Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State and former Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State will be at the Senate screening this Monday to prove who is more suitable for specific ministerial portfolio to be assigned by President Muhammadu Buhari after the Senate confirmation of the 43 ministerial nominees.

The Senate had fixed Tuesday for the conclusion of the screening of the 43 ministerial nominees President Muhammadu Buhari sent last Tuesday for confirmation. National Dailylearned that as at last Friday the Senate had screened 31 of the 43 nominees and the other 12 will be screened this week. Two latent rivals for a particular ministerial portfolio, both former governor from the south west, Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State and Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State are expected to appear before the Senate on Monday for screening. There are insinuations that the former Osun State Governor is targeting the Works Minister portfolio which Fashola held the first tenure of President Buhari.

Other ministerial nominees to be screened by the Senate this week include:

Dr. Muhammad Mahmoud, Kaduna;

Gbemisola Saraki, Kwara;

Goddy Jedy-Agba, Cross River;

Sulaiman Adamu, Jigawa;

Clement Agba, Edo;

Maryam Katagum, Bauchi;

Former Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama.

Others include:

Sabo Nanono

Saleh Mamman, Taraba.
