Fatal accident claims Uber driver, 3 others on Eko Bridge

An Uber driver and his three passengers are among the victims, according to reports.

Reckless driving was to blame for the accident that occurred on Saturday, March 26.

The victims, who were riding in a Toyota Camry, were navigating the Eko Bridge when Yusuf Ambali, the driver of a Lexus 300, lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the Camry.

All four occupants of the e-hailing car died as a result of the incident, which damaged both vehicles.

Ambali, on the other hand, was believed to have missed death by a hair’s breadth, while the mutilated bodies of the victims, three men and one woman, remained stuck in the automobile.

Emergency personnel were seen utilizing equipment to drill through the truck to recover the remains when they arrived at the scene of the tragedy.

The accident slowed traffic on the bridge, as traffic officials struggled to control the situation.

The incident, according to Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, was caused by irresponsible driving.

“Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, it was discovered that a Toyota Camry with the license plate EPE-583 GT had collided with a Lexus,” he said.

“The accident was caused by irresponsible driving.” Unfortunately, four of the Toyota Camry’s occupants died as a result of the crash.

“The Cobra crew extricated the items with the help of the agency’s light rescue equipment, while Lagos State Traffic Management Authority officials and police officers kept traffic and the throng under control.”

“The bodies were bagged and given over to officials from the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, while the affected vehicles were towed off the road by the agency’s light tow truck and handed over to the Iporin Divisional Traffic Officer, restoring normalcy on the road.”

Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the accident and said the driver who caused it had been apprehended, adding that attempts were on to identify the victims.

“A Lexus 300 with number plate SMK 478 AV, driven by one Yusuf Ambali, collided with a Toyota Camry with number plate EPE-583 GT,” according to the PPRO.

“The Lexus was traveling from Costain to Lagos when it lost control, crossed the culvert, and collided with a Toyota Camry traveling from Costain.” The Toyota Camry’s occupants all killed instantly.

“Because the Toyota Camry was proven to be an Uber vehicle, the driver was also an Uber driver.” However, because the occupants lacked identification cards and their phones were broken, their identities are still unknown.

“The only phone that wasn’t destroyed is with the cops, and we’ve been waiting for a call since the phone is an iPhone that was locked,” says the officer. However, if no one calls, we will conduct a forensic examination of the phone in order to obtain a lead in order to determine the identity of the phone’s owner. The driver has been arrested, and the two vehicles have been towed to the Iponri Police Station.”
