The Federal Government has officially begun the rehabilitation of the dilapidated Malando-Ngaski-Wara road, a key infrastructure project linking Kebbi and Niger States and connecting the northern and southern parts of Nigeria.
The project, which is expected to enhance economic and social activities in the region, was initiated by Epsilon Sky Global Engineering Limited, the construction firm in charge of the works.
Mr. Marcel Hattab, the Managing Director of Epsilon Sky Global Engineering Limited, made the announcement during a familiarization visit to Birnin Kebbi on Monday, where he was received by Alhaji Abdullahi Umar-Faruk, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Works.
“We have commenced the rehabilitation of the dilapidated Malando-Ngaski-Wara road, which stretches from Kebbi to Auna in Niger State,” Hattab stated. “This road is critical for both economic and social activities as it links the northern and southern regions of the country.
We are committed to ensuring that quality work is done on the 76.5-kilometer federal road.”
Hattab further outlined that the rehabilitation would involve the construction of concrete shoulders, two layers of asphalt, and a strong stone base layer to stabilize the road.
He assured that the road would be completed in less than the three-year contractual period, aiming for a completion time of just one and a half years.
“We are grateful to the federal government, Governor Nasir Idris, and the State Ministry of Works for giving us the opportunity to rehabilitate this important road,” Hattab added. “We are committed to delivering the project according to contractual specifications, ensuring its durability and long-term effectiveness.”
In his response, Commissioner Umar-Faruk expressed appreciation for the efforts of the federal government and Engineer Rilwanu Usman, who oversees the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in Kebbi State.

He lauded FERMA’s role in the rehabilitation and maintenance of the state’s infrastructure.
“FERMA has been instrumental in the development and maintenance of our infrastructure in Kebbi,” Umar-Faruk said. “This is a responsibility we do not take lightly as we continue working towards the development and social security of our state.”
The commissioner also thanked President Bola Tinubu for awarding the project, noting that the state government would fully support the successful execution of the road rehabilitation.
The Managing Director of Epsilon Sky Global Engineering was accompanied by officials from the Federal Ministry of Works and FERMA during the visit.
This rehabilitation project is expected to significantly improve road connectivity between Kebbi and Niger States, boosting trade and mobility while enhancing safety for commuters in both regions.
