Manchester United have on Thursday released a statement with the claim that attacker, Cristiano Ronaldo has been axed from the squad to face Chelsea on Saturday.
National Daily had earlier reported that the 37-year-old Portuguese was captured storming out of the pitch at the 89th minute and before the full-time, thus abandoning his team-mates in their mid-week EPL encounter against Spurs on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has finally broken his silence over the unfortunate incident with an attempt to remedy his personality in his released 174-word statement.
Ronaldo who was an unused substitute in the 2-0 win on the exciting night for the Red Devils supporters after their team displayed their arguably best performance in recent times was captured trudging off down the touchline and headed to the dugout on his own before the final whistle.
However, National Daily further gathered that it has since been widely reported that Ronaldo ‘refused’ to come on as substitute on the might and has subsequently trained on his own on Thursday morning.
And on Thursday evening, United released a statement that confirmed that he will not be considered for selection for their trip to face Chelsea on Saturday.
Meanwhile, National Daily can confirm that the Portugal international had couple of hours later after United’s statement, taken to social media to provide his side of the story.
He has admitted that “the heat of the moment” got the better of him and he has vowed to “keep working hard”.
“As I’ve always done throughout my career, I try to live and play respectfully towards my colleagues, my adversaries and my coaches. That hasn’t changed. I haven’t changed,” Ronaldo stated via Instagram.
“I’m the same person and the same professional that I’ve been for the last 20 years playing elite football, and respect has always played a very important role in my decision-making process.
“I started very young, the older and most experienced players examples were always very important to me.
“Therefore, later on, I’ve always tried to set the example myself for the youngsters that grew in all the teams that I’ve represented.
“Unfortunately that’s not always possible and sometimes the heat of the moment gets the best of us.
“Right now, I just feel that I have to keep working hard in Carrington, support my teammates and be ready for everything in any given game.
“Giving in to the pressure is not an option. It never was. This is Manchester United, and united we must stand. Soon we’ll be together again.”
The former Real Madrid talisman whose contract expires next summer increasingly looks to likely quit United at some point next year after he was keen to do so in the summer after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League.
