Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Parity (PDP) has won the governorship election in the state after Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) completed the collation of results of the supplementary election in the 10 local government areas on Tuesday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for Adamawa, Prof Muhammed Mele of the University of Maiduguri, announcing the final result on the conclusion of the supplementary result collation on Tuesday in Yola, declared Fintiri of the PDP winner of the governorship election with 430,869 votes, defeating Aisha Binani of the APC who had 398,788 votes.
The Returning Officer highlighted that the Total number of registered for the supplementary election was 42,929; number of accredited voters is 16,423.
In the supplementary election, PDP had 9,337 votes, and APC, 6,513 votes.
Accredited votes were 15,999, while rejected votes were 399; and total votes cast were 16,398.
In the overall result, total number of registered in the state, according to the Returning Officer, was 2,196, 556, accredited voters were 876,387;
Total valid votes – 853,819
Rejected votes – 15,287
Total votes cast 869,106
