Former Chairman Agboyi Ketu LCDA Mayor Dele Oshinowo has doled out 200 health insurance HMOs and 500 bags of rice to residents of the Kosofe Federal Constituency, stating his poise to also send more educational support grants to youths in no distant time.
Mayor Oshinowo made the donations during the 17th edition of the annual Ramadan lecture organized by Abdulwahid Islamic Foundation on Saturday, theme: Leaving a Legacy; Family & Community Impact.
In his view what matters most is the trait exhibited by faithful during after the consecrated month of Ramadan.
Speaking to why he remains committed to human development through his Mayor Dele Oshinowo Foundation (MDOF) having given one of the residents a female student at the University of Ilorin a bursary of 200,000 naira courtesy a trusted hand Comrade Abdulwaheed Odunuga founder of Abdulwahid Islamic Foundation, he stressed his passionate bond with the people.
“While leaving the office, I said I’ll continue to meet and care for our people in the community in the same manner I did while in office, I desire a greater Kosofe so I will continue to be instrumental towards its development bringing support to our people.
“When I see anybody doing good on this same turf I align with my support once I am invited that informs why I am here. Nigeria is going through a defining moment. We know it’s a difficult period but we need to go through this step to get a better future.
“You can see our macro economy is getting better, our President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working on the macro economy and with that by the time he completes the four years and gets re-elected for the next four years, life will be better for everybody.”
He added that the indicators are favourable for Nigeria as, “a bag of rice which sold for 85,000 naira before now goes for 50,000 naira and even lesser in some places, the US dollar has come down, so we are living in our reality.
“Asiwaju is working on the micro economy of Nigeria so that the difference will touch every citizen of Nigeria. My appeal is for all of us to continue to support Asiwaju.
“We should vote him back so that he will be able to complete what he has started- holistic restructuring rather than doing cosmetic surgery.”
Oshinowo however, added that the major solution to voter apathy often experienced during elections in time past is community engagement, the likes of what the All-Progressives Congress (APC) is massively embarking on across the country at the moment.
Earlier in their lectures on the theme earlier stated, the Guest Speaker Sheikh Al Mudir Ismail Adeyemi Ibrahim Kajola, others Ustaz Mayaleeke Afolalola Sheriff and Imam Ridwanulah Abdullah the Chief Imam Abdulwahid Islamic Foundation, took turns to harp on the importance of good parentage and the need to instill in the children religious values aside western education, adding that such wards tends to be well rounded and able to go through life seamlessly not minding life’s challenges.
Hundreds of Muslim faithfuls filled the event place to its brim all in admiration of spiritual bonding that the fora avail them.
