Four bankers held for death of debtor’s wife in Ogun

Police in Ogun State have arrested four staff of ZEFA Microfinance Bank at Abule Ijoko Lemode area of Ifo Local Government over the death of a 50 -year-old Vivian Omo, wife of the bank’s debtor.

They allegedly shoved the woman while trying to resist them from packing their household belongings before she fell and became unconscious.

She was taken to a hospital but the doctor on duty pronounced her dead.

It was learnt that events that led to the woman’s death started when the bankers visited for debt recovery but the exercise turned awry.

Ogun Police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident on Sunday, said it happened on May 10.

Oyeyemi, a Superintendent Police (SP), said when the suspects, who were not satisfied by the woman’s explanation about the whereabouts of her husband, decided to pack all the electronics in the house to their office, the step that was resisted by the deceased.

He stated, “While the deceased was struggling with the Bank’s staffers, one of them pushed her and she fell down and was unconscious.

“She was then rushed to hospital for medical attention, but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
