The Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has urged Nigerians not to hate the police or judge the entire police institution based on the misconduct of a few officers.
His appeal came in response to a strongly worded post by an X.com user, @torty_mercy, who wrote, “I hate the Nigerian police! I can’t even say it as it is in my heart! I hate those monsters!”
Reacting via his official X.com account on Sunday, Adejobi called for a more balanced perspective on the police and its personnel.
“Don’t condemn the police force. Don’t hate the Nigeria Police Force and its officers,” he wrote. “You can dislike the attitudes or misconduct of a very few who tarnish the image of the profession. But when you meet many of our officers, you’ll come to appreciate and respect the force.”

He acknowledged that there are erring officers within the system but emphasized they represent only a small fraction of the workforce.
“We agree that we have a few recalcitrant individuals, and these ones are very infinitesimal. They can still be reformed and become good ambassadors of the force,” he said.
Adejobi stressed that meaningful reform of the police requires public support and collective effort.
“We need to work together to reform the police, not condemn the noble profession,” he added.
