Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged the newly appointed members of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to embrace innovative technologies to drive development and enhance the electoral process in the state.
Sanwo-Olu made the call during the swearing-in ceremony of the six LASIEC board members on Friday at the Lagos House in Ikeja.
The ceremony also witnessed the swearing-in of three new permanent secretaries.
The governor charged the LASIEC board, led by retired Justice Bola Ighile, to prioritize transparency and innovation in their operations. He emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles by ensuring free, fair, and credible council elections.
“I charge you to uphold the highest standards of professionalism. You are the new role models for the entire public service. Your conduct, both on and off duty, must reflect the values of integrity and transparency,” Sanwo-Olu said. “Accountability must not be far from you, and this is the minimum that Lagos State demands of you.”
The other members of the new LASIEC board are Mr. Samson Ajibade, Secretary; Mr. Akeem Durojaye; Mr. Olumide Metileku; Mr. Habeeb Ayileru; and Mr. Oladele Adekanye.

He encouraged them to brainstorm and develop programs that would foster innovation and improve the lives of Lagosians.
“The new permanent secretaries will work in line with our THEMES Plus Agenda,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
The newly sworn-in permanent secretaries are Mr. AbdulRafiu Fashola, who will oversee the LASIEC office; Mrs. Kafayat Sarumi, in charge of the Office of Sustainable Development Goals; and Abdul-Rasheed Muri-Okunola, responsible for the Motor Vehicle Administration Agency.
