It is understood that Bayern Munich and Tottenham have held talks over the signing of England captain Harry Kane, as the striker is set to meet new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou on Wednesday.

There are indications that dialogue remains open between the clubs but no deal is agreed and a huge difference of opinion exists around the valuation of the 29-year-old.

National Daily meanwhile gathered from the claim by Sky Sports News that Kane has not closed any avenue available to him, including staying in north London, but he would be open to formally speaking with the German champions should Spurs accept an offer.

Tottenham have insisted they do not want to sell their talisman and certainly won’t entertain the £70m figure Bayern are willing to pay.

Daniel Levy is reluctant to lose his record goal scorer and continues to hope he will sign a lucrative new contract, but the fact that Kane has one year left on his current deal may force him to consider a significant sum.

And that could be the reason dialogue with Bayern remains open as fears grow Kane may join a Premier League rival next summer should he stay and run down his contract.

However, one clear thing is that Tottenham will not fancy selling Kane to an English club in this transfer window, thus ruling out a move to Manchester United, which has helped cooled Erik ten Hag’s interest in the England skipper.

Kane returned to Tottenham training on Wednesday and is expected to meet with new head coach Postecoglou. There will not be a repeat of two years ago when he was absent following attempts from Manchester City to sign him.

Postecoglou has revealed his plans to shape a side that produces exciting, attacking football and would like Kane to be part of it.

Bayern Munich however believe Kane who has scored 213 goals for Spurs making him the second-highest scorer in Premier League history behind Alan Shearer wants to join them and that appears to be his most likely destination if he departs in the coming weeks.
