The news of the Igangan Friday night attack making the rounds—that Fulani herdsmen in the Nigeria Customs Service uniform attacked the Ibarapa north community again—is misleading. Fulani herders never launched another onslaught.
According to an authoritative source in the area, some men of the Nigeria Customs Service did. And no fewer than seven of them have been arrested after the bloody standoff between the officers and hunters at Igangan.
“The security operatives killed one Fulani, and another man called Sunday Kiiki aka Oko Oluweri,” the source told the National Daily.
“They also killed Sule Okanlawon at Ayete , and a commander of Amotekun, Muri Ajala, at Igbo Ora.”
One of the officers was also shot dead in the shootout while others sustained injuries.

Most of the initial narrative had been largely based on the account of Oladiran Oladokun, the convener of Igangan Development Advocate.
Oladokun said the attackers were suspected herders in military uniform.
True, Igangan has witnessed series of attacks by herders in the first half of the year. The last reprisal was weeks ago in which over a dozen people, including five of the marauding Fulani bandits, were killed in the midnight violence.
The men behind the Friday night attacks were arrested, while on the run, by local hunters at Ayete.
Their intention for attacking unarmed locals has not been revealed
