The posting, which took effect immediately, was confirmed on Monday, February 2, 2026, according to reports by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).

Prior to this appointment, AIG Disu served as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Special Protection Unit (SPU), where he oversaw critical protective operations involving high-profile individuals and sensitive national assignments.

A seasoned and highly experienced officer, AIG Disu has held several strategic leadership positions within the Nigeria Police Force.

He previously served as the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, as well as the Rivers State Police Command, among other key postings, earning commendation for his operational leadership and administrative competence.

NAOSNP recalls that AIG Disu was formally decorated with his current rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police on March 25, 2025, in recognition of his years of service and contributions to internal security and policing reforms.

His deployment to the Force CID Annex, Alagbon—one of the most critical investigative hubs of the Nigeria Police Force—is expected to strengthen criminal investigations, improve inter-agency coordination, and enhance public confidence in law enforcement, particularly in Lagos and its environs.

The appointment underscores the IGP’s ongoing efforts to reposition the Force through strategic postings of experienced senior officers to sensitive commands nationwide.
