The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Olukayode Egbetokun, has approved the deployment of the newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Mr. Mohammed Gumel, alongside 16 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to key departments, commands and formations across the country.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin.
According to Hundeyin, the strategic postings are part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen operational capacity, enhance leadership effectiveness, improve public safety and boost overall service delivery nationwide.
As part of the redeployment, DIG Mohammed Gumel has been posted to head the Force Intelligence Department (FID), a critical unit responsible for intelligence gathering and analysis. Aina Adesola has been deployed as the new Commissioner of Police in charge of Delta State.
Other newly deployed Commissioners of Police include Umar Hajedia (Kebbi State Command), Iyamah Edobor (Bayelsa State Command), Osagie Agans-Irabor (Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, FCID Annex, Lagos) and Johnson Babalola (Special Enquiries Bureau, FCID, Abuja).
Further postings include Adepegba Adetoye to the Marine Unit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja; Tabitha Bako as Deputy Commandant, Police College, Kaduna; Umar Ali Fagge as Deputy Commandant, Police College, Ikeja; and Audu Bosso to the General Investigation Section, FCID Annex, Kaduna.

Others affected by the deployment are Edwin Ogbeghagha (Community Policing, Force Headquarters, Abuja); Arikpo Ikpi (Investment Office, Department of Logistics and Supply, Force Headquarters, Abuja); Cyril Obiozo (Maritime Command, Lagos); and Samuel Yerima (Coordinator of Courses, Police Staff College, Jos).
Also deployed are Alhaji Danlandi to the X-Squad, FCID Annex, Kaduna; Richard Gara to the Inspectorate, Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters; Lasisi Titilola to the Railway Command, Lagos; and Obuagbaka John to the Safer Highway Unit, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The IGP, according to the statement, charged the senior officers to bring their wealth of knowledge and professional experience to bear in their new assignments by providing purposeful, result-oriented leadership.
He further urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethical conduct, while ensuring strict adherence to the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.
