It is an undeniable fact of how Manchester United have desired to recruit Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona after the Red Devils made the Dutchman their major transfer target this summer.

Though, the whole process has not gone as expected as the United fans have been left unsettled with the entire dilly-dallying.

However, relief could finally be heading the way of United fans with the latest gesture coming from the former Ajax midfielder.

National Daily understands that De Jong may have excited the Red Devils supporters by ‘liking’ the footage of United’s latest recruit Casemiro arriving at Old Trafford.

And with United chiefs understood to have travelled to the Catalan capital in the attempt to further push for a deal for the 25-year-old, after Barca were believed to have scheduled a meeting to speed up a sale of the player, as they are desperate to cash in on the midfielder in the final week of the transfer window.

National Daily reckons that De Jong became a subject of a fresh approach from the Old Trafford club after boss and compatriot Erik ten Hag urged United’s hierarchy to remain patient on a deal that has been in negotiations for over 16 weeks.

Going by the exclusive report by Mirror Football, it is understood that the latest signing of Casemiro who was unveiled by United before their clash against Liverpool on Monday night has not ended the club’s pursuit of their major target De Jong.

The former Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro had arrived at Old Trafford for the first time on Monday and watched his new side’s spirited defeat of Liverpool with the performance on the pitch and arrival of the Brazilian suggesting that there were better days ahead for Ten Hag’s team this season.

Meanwhile, the circulated video footage of Casemiro’s arrival at the stadium ahead of the match had left a group of Red Devils fans with the struggle to contain their excitement as they attempted to take pictures with him. De Jong engaged with the video on his Instagram account by ‘liking’ the post in the midst of United’s pursuit of his signature.

National Daily recalls that De Jong who has been the subject of prolonged and sustained transfer interest from Old Trafford had previously slammed Barcelona on social media by similarly ‘liking’ a post that was critical of his treatment by the club throughout the summer and with his latest social media move seeming to hint at his future.

Though United’s CEO Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough had left Barcelona late last month after several days of an unsuccessful attempt to seal a deal for De Jong’s signature despite reaching an agreement with the club, the Red Devils are hoping that things will work in their favour with their revival of a fresh visit.
