The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has concluded arrangement to live stream daily matches of this year’s Challenge Nigeria Open ‘Lagos 2017’ on itTV.

National Daily gathered that  Supersport will beam the finals of the year’s championships live on its satellite as the official broadcast station of the competition.

According to the Local Organising Committee (LOC), itTV – ITTF’s free online streaming platform, will offer two tables of action throughout the five-day championships.

The Tournament Director, Femi George,  told National Daily that the $46,000 would be broadcast through a free itTV for viewers across the globe while Supersport, who has been part of the championship in the last three years, would broadcast the live final matches of the competition.

“The Nigeria Open has continued to grow each year and the registration this year has been overwhelming with some of the top players in the world coming to Lagos. To give fans across the world the opportunity to watch daily matches this year, they have decided to ensure that two tables are beamed live on its free channel. For fans across the globe, this is another chance to watch the best of the best competing for the top prize,” he said.

Over 22 countries made up of 148 players (95 men and 53 women) will compete for the prize money, which is the highest in the ITTF Challenge Series. The players will compete in the singles for men and women as well as U-21 men and women. The doubles will also be competed for in the men and women categories.

France and Russia will lead other eight countries from Europe while host – Nigeria and Egypt will lead six other nations from Africa.

However, the July 25 deadline for the media internships is getting closer as the LOC is offering two media internships for interested undergraduates (male and female) in Nigeria tertiary institutions to undergo training at the five-day competition.

The LOC said that each candidate will have full access to all players, and assist the media team in providing service during the championships as this will provide an exceptionally rewarding experience for the selected candidates.
