The Chief Judge of Jigawa State, Justice Umar Sadiq, has issued a strong warning to Sharia Court Khadis in the state, urging them to avoid bribery and corruption in their judicial duties. The warning was made following the swearing-in of 19 newly appointed Khadis on Tuesday in Dutse.
In a statement released by Mr. Abba Wangara, Director of Protocol and Publicity for the state’s Judicial Service Commission (JSC), Justice Sadiq emphasized the importance of upholding justice, integrity, and the rule of law.
He called on the newly appointed Khadis to remain steadfast in their commitment to a corrupt-free judiciary.
“I urge you to uphold justice, integrity, and the rule of law.
Avoid all forms of corruption and bribery as part of the effort to maintain a corrupt-free judiciary,” Justice Sadiq said.
The Chief Judge further noted that the new Khadis had undergone extensive training in Islamic jurisprudence, preparing them to make sound and just decisions in accordance with Sharia law.
He explained that their roles would include presiding over cases in Sharia courts, interpreting Islamic law, and providing guidance to communities on legal matters.

“The swearing-in of these new Khadis marks a significant step in strengthening the Sharia court system and ensuring that all members of the community have access to justice,” Sadiq added.
In his remarks, the Grand Khadi of Jigawa State, Sani Salihu, also urged the newly appointed Khadis to be law-abiding and to uphold the principles of Islamic law, reminding them that they were under the scrutiny of the public.
The appointees include Mohammed Abubakar, Ibrahim Adamu, Suleiman Abubakar, Lawan Salisu, Shu’aibu Hussain, Rabi’u Jafar, Muhsin Haruna, Abdullahi Sabo, Jafar Hassan, Abdulkadir Umar, Umar Abubakar, Umar Muktar, Rufa’i Sabo, Najib Garba, Shu’aibu Nasiru, Nura Mohd, Abubakar Dalhatu, Muddassir Usman, and Abdullahi Idris.
The appointment of these Khadis is seen as a positive move towards enhancing the delivery of justice within the Sharia court system and ensuring that the principles of justice and fairness are upheld in the state.
