Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relieved his Political Adviser, Sunusi Surajo Kwankwaso, of his appointment with immediate effect, citing alleged poor performance and failure to meet the expectations of the office.
The decision was announced in a statement issued on Saturday night by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa. According to the statement, the action followed an extensive review of the activities and conduct of the Office of the Political Adviser.
The assessment, the governor said, revealed shortcomings in the execution of assigned responsibilities, prompting the decision to effect an immediate change in order to maintain efficiency within the administration.
Governor Yusuf explained that the move was taken in the overall interest of good governance, stressing the need to safeguard the integrity of his administration and restore harmony, focus and effectiveness in government operations.
He expressed concern over what he described as rising tension and divisions within political circles, which he said were traced to the conduct of the former adviser. The governor warned that his administration would not tolerate actions capable of undermining unity, stability or cohesion in the governance of Kano State.
