Kwara monarch abducted as kidnappers demand N450m ransom

Kidnappers have demanded N450m for the release of the Oniwo of Aafin, Oba Simeon Olaonipekun, his NYSC-serving son, and other abducted residents in Ifelodun LGA, Kwara State.

According to reports, N150m was demanded for the monarch and his son, while N300m was requested for eight residents abducted from Adanla-Irese. A family source confirmed contact from the abductors and appealed for urgent government intervention.

The abduction occurred on New Year’s Eve when armed men invaded the palace and injured the monarch’s wife. The Kwara Police said it is unaware of any ransom demand and assured that rescue efforts are ongoing.

The Kwara Police Command said it is unaware of any ransom demand and reaffirmed that it does not support ransom payments, assuring residents that efforts to rescue the abducted victims are ongoing.
