Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Princess Mojisola Meranda, has strongly refuted speculations suggesting that she is considering resigning from her position amid the recent crisis that has engulfed the House following the impeachment of former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
Meranda, reacting to the rumors circulating on social media, categorically dismissed the claims, describing them as “lies from the pit of hell.” She affirmed that she remains fully committed to her role, emphasizing that she is actively carrying out her duties as Speaker.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by her Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, the Speaker made it clear that she has neither stepped down nor has any intention of doing so.
“I’m in the office. The Speaker is in the office. I don’t know where that is coming from,” Ajiboye stated, debunking the rumors.
He further stressed that the reports of Meranda’s resignation are completely false and without basis.
“It is a lie from the pit of hell. There is no truth in the story. I am doing my work as the CPS, the Speaker is in her office as we speak, and everybody is attending to their respective duties.
“We do not know where the story is coming from. The Speaker has not resigned, and there is no plan for that,” the statement concluded.
Meranda’s clarification aims to put an end to the swirling speculations and reaffirm her commitment to steering the affairs of the House of Assembly amidst the ongoing political developments.
