The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Olohundare Moshood Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police (CP) for the Lagos State Command.
His appointment, announced on Monday, marks a significant leadership change in Nigeria’s commercial hub.
Prior to this new role, CP Jimoh served as Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority, Eastern Ports, overseeing security operations across critical maritime infrastructure.
His extensive experience spans various strategic positions, including Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner at the Airport Police, Deputy Commissioner of Finance and Administration, and Deputy Commissioner of General Investigation.
Hailing from Kwara State, CP Jimoh brings to his new post a wealth of expertise in policing, public relations, and international security collaborations. His professional training includes: Combat Operations Course – Mobile Training College, Maiduguri; African Union Mission – Darfur, Sudan; Weapons of Mass Destruction Countermeasure – First Responder Training Institute, United States; Social Construction and Management Reform – China Executive Leadership Academy, Pudong; Maritime Rescue and Salvage – China Maritime Academy, Ningbo; Anti-Hijacking Techniques and Tactics – Yunnan Police College, Kunming; Police Training Institute – Seoul, South Korea.

Jimoh’s reputation as a seasoned crime-fighter and strategic security expert has earned him national recognition. He is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year, conferred by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) for his outstanding contributions to police communication and public engagement.
The appointment was finalized following CP Jimoh’s appearance before the Police Service Commission. The PSC session, held today, was chaired by DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd.), mni, alongside key commissioners including: Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje (Rtd.) – Former Supreme Court Justice, representing the Judiciary

Announcing the decision, Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations for the PSC, emphasized Jimoh’s track record and preparedness to lead security operations in Lagos State, a command known for its complex security challenges.
Jimoh’s appointment comes at a critical time when Lagos faces rising security concerns, including armed robbery, cybercrime, and traffic-related offenses.
Analysts expect his background in investigation, finance, and international security collaboration to shape a more strategic approach to policing in the state.
With his extensive training and recognition in public relations, Jimoh is also anticipated to strengthen police-community relations and restore public confidence in law enforcement across the state.
