The Lagos State Government has announced that it will begin full enforcement against indiscriminate parking of vehicles on public roads across the state from Monday, July 28, 2025, through the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA).
The development was disclosed by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, during the July edition of the monthly walk-for-fitness exercise organized by the Office of the Head of Service over the weekend.
Mr. Agoro emphasized that the enforcement will commence within the State Secretariat in Alausa and the Old Secretariat in Ikeja, before being expanded to cover other parts of the state.
He stressed the need for all civil servants to lead by example in complying with the state’s parking laws.
Also speaking during the exercise, Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Office (PSO), Mrs. Olasunkanmi Oyegbola, urged public officers to support LASPA and promote proper parking habits among colleagues and the general public.
She warned that anyone caught violating the regulations should not seek intervention from the Office of the Head of Service or the PSO.
General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, in her sensitization briefing, reiterated that indiscriminate parking contributes significantly to traffic congestion and unsafe road conditions for motorists and pedestrians alike.

She said the coming enforcement is a crucial step toward restoring order and improving the efficiency of movement and emergency response in the state.
“Compliance with parking regulations is essential for achieving a safer, more organised Lagos,” Mrs. Adelabu stated. “We will no longer tolerate non-compliance with the state’s parking laws.
LASPA is committed to establishing a model parking culture that supports improved road safety and business efficiency.”
She explained that the negative impact of illegal parking extends beyond congestion, often blocking access for first responders such as firefighters and emergency medical teams, thereby endangering lives and property.
The enforcement is part of broader efforts by the Lagos State Government to implement a science-based, sustainable approach to urban mobility through the Lagos State Parking Policy and the operationalisation of LASPA.
Lagosians have been urged to comply with parking regulations and embrace responsible parking habits to support the state’s vision of a safer, more efficient, and liveable city.
