Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho has been shortlisted in the 2023 Golden Boy award, National Daily reports.
Liverpool midfield duo Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic have also been named in the shortlist with additional seven EPL starlets, thus bringing the number to ten.
Chelsea, Brighton and Manchester City all had representatives.
The Golden Boy award is won by Europe’s best youngster aged under 21 in a calendar year and began in 2003. Barcelona midfielder Gavi, who has been nominated again for this year’s shortlist, won last year’s award and past winners include Erling Haaland, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Wayne Rooney.
Xavi Simons, who has joined RB Leipzig in on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, is also shortlisted after a starring season at PSV Eindhoven. He will be joined by Leipzig teammate Benjamin Sesko, while another highly-rated striker on the list is Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund.
The Seagulls are not shy of other candidates on the list, with Irish striker Evan Ferguson joined by exciting South American midfielders Julio Enciso and Facundo Buonanotte respectively, while Scottish giants Celtic’s Odin Holm is also included following his transfer from Valerenga.
The prize was established by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport in 2003 with the voting process of judges including sports journalists from across Europe. Each juror is allowed to nominate five players, the juror will allocate ten points to the player that they perceive as the most impressive, seven for second, five for third, three for fourth, and one point for the fifth-most impressive.
