Manchester United’s difficult season worsened with another injury blow during their 0-0 Premier League draw against Aston Villa.

Centre-back Harry Maguire, who had only recently returned from a minor injury, sustained a fresh leg problem, casting doubt over his availability for upcoming matches.

Maguire, 31, was paired alongside veteran Jonny Evans at the heart of the defense for the clash at Villa Park.

However, Evans was forced off at halftime after picking up a leg injury just before the break. The Northern Ireland international was later seen leaving the stadium in a protective boot, raising concerns about the severity of his condition

While Maguire managed to complete the match, his leg issue has raised fears that he may be sidelined again, further complicating United’s defensive crisis.

The timing of the injury is somewhat mitigated by the international break, which gives the club a window to assess and treat Maguire’s condition before their next Premier League fixture.

United’s poor start to the season—picking up just eight points from seven games—has put them in unfamiliar territory. This marks the club’s worst opening to a Premier League campaign in 35 years, and mounting injuries have only exacerbated their troubles.

Erik ten Hag’s side has struggled to find consistency, and their form has fueled speculation over the Dutchman’s future, with increasing pressure from fans and pundits alike.

The international break offers Maguire time to recover, but with a growing injury list and poor results, Ten Hag faces a challenging period ahead as United look to salvage their faltering season.
