Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has offered a fresh prediction in the ongoing Premier League title race, tipping Arsenal to narrowly overcome Manchester City despite recent setbacks.

Owen said he believes Arsenal still have what it takes to clinch the Premier League title ahead of defending champions Manchester City, even after their surprise defeat to Bournemouth.

At the weekend, Arsenal suffered a 2–1 defeat to Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium, a result that briefly raised concerns about their title push.

Meanwhile, Manchester City strengthened their momentum with a commanding 3–0 win over Chelsea, further intensifying the race at the top of the table.

Despite Arsenal maintaining a six-point lead — with City holding a game in hand — the gap has added fresh tension to an already tight title battle.

Speaking on the race, Owen highlighted the difficulty of City’s remaining fixtures, suggesting they could prove decisive in the closing stages of the season.

“I think Manchester City have got the slightly more difficult games. They have got Bournemouth away, they have got Everton away,” he said, as quoted by Metro UK.

“They are two tough games. However, when you look at this weekend, we thought Arsenal at home to Bournemouth and City away at Chelsea.

Owen acknowledged City’s pedigree under manager Pep Guardiola, as well as their experience and current form, but maintained that the race remains finely balanced.

“Everything is pointing to City — the momentum, the record of Pep Guardiola, the experience of the players, the current form, City at home against Arsenal,” he said.

“It’s the toss of a coin, but I think Arsenal might just nick it.”

With both clubs still in strong contention, the Premier League title race is expected to go down to the final stretch of the season, with fixture difficulty, squad depth and consistency likely to determine the eventual champion.
