As Nigerians ushered in the New Year at midnight on January 1, 2026, Mouka, the country’s leading manufacturer of mattresses, pillows, and bedding products, once again marked the occasion by celebrating families welcoming newborn babies across the nation.
The annual initiative, which has become a hallmark of Mouka’s corporate social responsibility, underscores the company’s commitment to improving lives by promoting quality sleep from the earliest stages of life.
In collaboration with public healthcare facilities across 15 states, including Lagos, Oyo, Imo, Rivers, Abia, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Gombe, Kano, Plateau, and Niger, Mouka celebrated the birth of 71 babies delivered in the early hours of the New Year.
Families of the newborns received carefully curated gift packs featuring Mouka Dreamtime Baby Mattresses, specially designed to support infant comfort and development, alongside pillows, toys, and essential baby skincare items.
In Lagos State, Mouka partnered with the First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, to honour the first babies born in 2026. The celebration included visits to General Hospital Gbagada, General Hospital Ibeju-Lekki, and General Hospital Imota, where mothers of New Year babies were presented with gifts.
At exactly 12:00 a.m., a baby girl was delivered to Mr. and Mrs. Daramola at General Hospital Gbagada, becoming one of the first babies of the year. At the same time, a baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Mayowa at General Hospital Ibeju-Lekki, marking a joyful start to the year for both families.
Speaking during the celebrations, Mouka’s Managing Director, Mr. Femi Fapohunda, reaffirmed the company’s mission to nurture healthy sleep habits from infancy.
“As champions of quality sleep, we believe that fostering good sleep practices from the very beginning is vital,” Fapohunda said. “Our Dreamtime Baby Mattress is specially crafted to support optimal physical and cognitive development for children.”
He added that the mattress is designed to be water-resistant and breathable, ensuring a safe and comfortable sleep environment for infants.
