In a bid to strengthen African oil and gas industries and enhance local content development, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has commenced a five-day knowledge sharing program with the Petroleum Commission of Ghana.
The initiative, which began on Monday in Lagos, aims to establish technical cooperation between the two organizations through capacity building and the exchange of best practices.
The program is designed to assist the Petroleum Commission of Ghana in developing an effective framework to enhance compliance and deepen local content within its oil and gas sector.
The opening day’s activities included a courtesy visit to NCDMB’s Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, who reiterated the Board’s commitment to advancing local content development across Africa.
Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at NCDMB, Mr. Abdulmalik Halilu, emphasized the importance of cooperation among African oil-producing countries to overcome technological and financial challenges.

He advocated for the development of specialized capabilities within African nations to promote effective trade and economic growth under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCTA).
Throughout the week, NCDMB officials will share strategies and operational frameworks, including supplier development initiatives, the Nigerian Oil and Gas Parks Scheme (NOGaPS), and the Nigerian Content Equipment Certification (NCEC).
Presentations will cover various topics such as succession planning, human capacity building, and community content guidelines.
The engagement will conclude on Friday with a review of a draft memorandum of understanding and data-sharing protocols between NCDMB and the Ghana Petroleum Commission.
This program follows similar collaborations with Uganda and Mozambique’s national oil companies earlier this year, as part of NCDMB’s commitment to regional linkages and sectoral development across Africa.
