Operatives of the National Emergency Management Agency have conducted an assessment of the Oyan dam flooding which has affected residents in Ogun State.
This was disclosed in a statement posted on the official X handle of NEMA on Wednesday, October 25.
According to the statement, the NEMA South-West Zonal Office in conjunction with the Ogun State Emergency Management Agency conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the flood that claimed four lives, destroyed property worth millions, submerged roads, and sacked many people from their homes.
The statement read, “The aftermath of Oyan water dam release is taking its toll on the residents of Isheri community and its environs as many households have been ravaged by the flood.

“The affected people have been living in deplorable conditions which calls for humanitarian assistance from the Federal government and other developing partners to enable them to restart their lives.
“A resident, Biggerd Oluchi, called on the Federal Government to find lasting solutions to the perennial flooding by dredging the rivers around the area so as to be able to accommodate more water.”
The statement further added that a team led by the Zonal Coordinator, Saheed Akiode, paid a courtesy call on the Ogun State Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, and the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, in their offices, respectively, to map out modality on how NEMA can come to the aid of those affected by the flood.
