Coach of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Femi Akanni says his target is to lift the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League in Abuja.
National Daily learnt that Nigeria Customs Service defeated Nigeria Army 3-0 (25-15, 26-24, 25-20) in the opening match of the female category.
Akanni  said no team in the league poses a serious threat to his technically sound team.
He said, “The customs female team is here to win the Premier League. That has always been our target since the federation proposed the championship.
“The match between Customs and Nigeria Army was to test run my players. You know that every team is always nervous in their first game. The first set went well, but the second and third were shaky because we had to introduce some other players who were on the bench. And at the end of the game, we got a deserved victory”.
He further said, “I have scanned the teams participating in the league and we are not scared of other teams. The only team that gives us problem regularly is the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) but this time around, we will put them in their place”.
National Daily gathered that Delta Force came from behind to beat Kada Emeralds 3-2 (15-25, 26-24, 15-25, 25-18, 15-13) while NSCDC defeated Benue Queens 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-17) in the second and third female matches respectively.
