In a continued offensive against terrorist hideouts in Kaduna State, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) under Operation WHIRL PUNCH (OPWP) successfully destroyed a major terrorist logistics base in Yadi Forest, Giwa Local Government Area on Friday, September 27, 2024.

The airstrike followed credible intelligence revealing the presence of terrorists and a weapons cache at the location, which was linked to notorious terrorist kingpin Kadade Gurgu, an ally of Dogo Gide.

Surveillance and reconnaissance confirmed the terrorists’ activities, with several motorcycles and other logistics spotted at the base.

As NAF aircraft approached the target, terrorists were seen fleeing from the area before the airstrike hit its mark.

The base was completely destroyed, with thick black smoke seen rising from the facility. Independent sources later confirmed the death of multiple terrorists during the operation.

The Nigerian Air Force, in coordination with ground forces, will maintain its pressure through continued intelligence, patrols, and strikes, aimed at eradicating terrorist strongholds in the Northwest and North Central regions.

Accordingly, the Air Component dispatched an aircraft, supported by an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform, to attack the target. The target area initially appeared uninhabited.

However, as the aircraft approached, some of the terrorists were seen emerging from under the shrubbery and running away from the area.

Subsequently, the targets were engaged, recording successful hits on the logistics facility, which was engulfed in flames with thick black smoke seen. Reports from independent sources, including local informants around the general area, later confirmed that the logistics base was totally destroyed and scores of terrorists were killed as a result of the attack.

The Nigerian Air Force, in collaboration with surface forces, will continue to dominate the battlespace through extensive situational awareness, constant patrols, and targeted interdiction of bandits’ safe havens within its area of responsibility and neighbouring states.

This aims to decimate and flush out terrorism and criminal activities within the Northwest and North Central region.
