The three top executives of National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) who were summoned by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) over allegations of non-declaration of assets failed to appear before the bureau on Thursday.

The Commissioner for Insurance/Chief Executive, Mohammed Kari; Deputy Commissioner for Insurance (Technical) Sunday Olorundare Thomas; and Deputy Commissioner for Insurance, Finance and Administration, George Onekhena, were invited over allegations of non-declaration of assets.

They were invited through a letter dated April 8, 2019 and signed by a deputy director, S.I. Abu on behalf of the chairman, Prof Mohammed Isah, and received by NAICOM same day. They were asked to appear at 11am, 2pm and 4pm respectively at the Conference Room

But checks at the CCB on Thursday showed that the senior public officials failed to turn up for questions.

The personal assistant to the chairman, Dr Sylester Gwimi told newsmen that the invited public officials sent in excuses bordering on ill-health, adding that they also requested to be afforded a different date to appear.
