Obasa @ 49, an unfettered birthday carnival

Olu EmmanuelThe Lagos State House of Assembly will now make out time to celebrate members birthday at plenary.
Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa gave the charge after virtually all members took turns to eulogize him in commemoration of his 49th birthday celebration on Thursday.
Obasa said that though he is not the type that likes celebrating his birthday in a conspicuous manner as many will attest to but because of the honour done on him, going forward all members will be accorded time to be celebrated at plenary once it is their birthday.
The lawmakers in quick succession appraised the personality of the Speaker noting his fearless and bold mien to leadership, stressing that at one point or the other he has been instrumental for them to stage a come back to the house given his large heartedness.
The Leader of the house Hon. Sanai Agunbiade in his remark reeled out the Speaker’s stylish mien to legislative leadership, while eulogizing his unique carriage in the discharge of his responsibilities.
Hon. Mojeed Fatai who was a member of the Budget and Economic Planning committee chaired by the Speaker as a ranking member in time past, attested to his great feats noting that he was a team player, who supported others to excel.
Hon. Moshood Olanrewaju Oshun Lagos Mainland 1 also showered encomiums on Rt. Hon.Mudashiru Obasa he however, appealed to him to forgive a particular individual who wronged him as he celebrates his birthday.
“I urge you to forgive a particular person who had wronged you, which is known to you and I, for I had appealed to you secretly to pardon him but since that didn’t work.
“I want to use this auspicious occasion of yours coupled with the happiness that is boldly written on your face, to ask that you forgive the person.“
The Chief Whip Hon.Mojisola Meranda and the Deputy Chief Whip Hon. Mosunmola Sangodara all spoke about the Speaker’s kind heartedness to women concerns and how supportive he has been towards them.
The Deputy Speaker Hon.Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni and Hon. Bisi Yusuff also added a comical blend to their felicitation message to the Speaker.
Others who also prayed and eulogized the Speaker are Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, Hon. Oluyinka Ogundimu, Hon. Sanni Okanlawon, Hon. Desmond Elliott and Hon. Mojisolaoluwa Alli-Macaulay, Hon. Temitope Adewale, Hon. Femi Saheed and others.
The plenary was later adjourned to Monday 15th November 2021.
Earlier the League of Personal Assistants to the forty lawmakers of Lagos State House of Assembly in commemoration of the 49th birthday celebration of the Speaker Rt.Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, also visited the BAB -ES-SALAM Orphanage Home at GRA Ikeja with food items, provisions and toiletries for the orphans accommodated there.
Speaking after the operators of the home had gladly received their gifts, Miss Zainab Okeshola a Personal Assistant to Hon. Ajani Owolabi, hinted what informed their decision to go that route in celebrating the Speaker, “today is the birthday of our Rt.Hon. Speaker and we are here on his behalf to present gift items to the orphanage.
“I once heard him say anybody that has a birthday gift for him should channel all to charity, that he doesn’t like material gifts, that is why we are here today.
“He is a philanthropist, a very big one at that, even before I got into the house he had help me and my colleagues in our academic life, so when I got into the house I also felt it is right to do all I can to support his administration.
“He also has a large heart and takes good care of people, I wish him a happy birthday and may all his aspirations come through.
Mr . Debo Adejuwon a Personal Assistants to Hon. Jude Idimogu in his contribution about the visit said that, “We here to do what he believes and he is passionate about.
“It is better for us to touch lives because he himself is humane, he has a large heart to touch lives, the needy and those people around him.
“He also had an humble beginning, you will recall last year when he was celebrating a day like this he was in one of his former schools, a primary school in Mushin so this year we thought it through that we should continue that philosophy.
“To carry along with him, being able to impact the less privileged. This fatherly role he has being playing has touched our lives one way or the other.” Adejuwon said.
Imam Hassan Idris Tahir the Head of BAB ES SALAM orphanage home ,who took delivery of the kind gestures from the Personal Assistants of the Honourable members appreciated them all.
“I can say it is going to go a long way to alleviate the suffering of the children, I urge other public spirited individuals to be able to do something similar, because it would help a long way to solve part of the problems of the nation.
“We pray that God will continue to bless the Speaker and all those that contributed in one way or other may the almighty Allah bless them immensely.
Tahir also spoke glowingly about the kindness benefitted from the Speaker whom he described as a close neighbour.
“He is our neighbour and he is someone that is kind hearted and known for supporting the vulnerable ones in the society.
“I pray that God continues to guide and guard him and help him discharge his responsibilities to the best of his abilities.“.
The birthday celebration was rounded off with the grand finale of the Speaker’s Cup tournament as teams defied the rains in honour of the celebrant, who also at a particular time played soccer with his colleagues before a grand birthday party, where all present were feted with all forms of delicacies and drinks.
In a climax of the celebration the organizers led by Hon. Moshood Oshun coordinated a lucky balloting session, where winners emerged and were handsomely rewarded with worthwhile gifts and prizes .
