Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has endorsed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Asue Ighodalo, as the best choice to continue developing the state.
Speaking at a PDP campaign rally in Fugar, Etsako Central, and Agbede in Etsako West Local Government Areas on Thursday, Obaseki praised Ighodalo’s plans and vision for the state.
Obaseki expressed his satisfaction with the massive turnout at the rally, highlighting the strong support from Etsako Central, despite it being one of the smaller local government areas.
He also acknowledged the community’s efforts to increase their voting strength during the continuous voter registration exercise.
“I want to thank you all for this massive turnout even when they say Etsako Central is one of the smallest local governments in the state but you people still have this large crowd”, he said.
The governor emphasized that Ighodalo, if elected, would leverage local resources, such as the gas pipeline passing through Etsako Central, to generate electricity and further develop the area.

Ighodalo, in his remarks, commended the Obaseki administration for its achievements in education, infrastructure, workers’ welfare, and health. He promised to build on these foundations, pledging to eradicate poverty, create wealth, and ensure good governance.
Ighodalo stressed that continuity is crucial for Edo’s progress and prosperity, urging voters to support the PDP on election day.
Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, a PDP chieftain and former Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, welcomed the campaign team to Etsako Central, praising Obaseki’s contributions to the area and endorsing Ighodalo as a leader with a proven track record.
The Director-General of the Asue Ogie Campaign Council, Mr. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, emphasized that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not an option for progress in Edo, advocating for the continuity provided by the PDP.
The state chairman of the party, Dr Tony Aziegbemi, in his speech, charged the people to come out en masse and vote on September 21.
He also thanked them for their support for PDP so far as he asked Chief Dan Orbih, the leader of the Legacy PDP in the state to “retrace his steps and come back home”.
In Agbede, Obaseki also commended the people for coming out en masse and assured them that before his tenure would run out, the water issues in Agbede would be resolved.
