Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has called on the people of the state to cast their votes for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, in the upcoming governorship election to ensure the continuation of his administration’s developmental projects.

Speaking at a well-attended PDP campaign rally in Egor Local Government Area on Monday, Obaseki emphasized the importance of sustaining the progress made during his tenure.

“I have done my best for Edo, and now it’s time for Ighodalo and Ogie to carry the torch forward from November 12. We want to keep moving forward, not backward,” Obaseki declared to an enthusiastic crowd.

He highlighted Egor’s significance as a youth hub, home to the University of Benin and the Benin Technical College, underscoring the importance of the upcoming election for the state’s future.

Obaseki also lauded Ighodalo’s youth-friendly approach, noting, “Ighodalo is youth-friendly. All the lawyers in his company are young. I’ve known him for 40 years, and he’s exceptionally brilliant. On September 21, don’t make a mistake—vote for continuity, vote PDP.”

Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate, echoed Obaseki’s sentiments, promising to harness the creative potential of Edo’s youth to drive the state forward. “We will work to bring out the best in our youths, ensuring that progress benefits everyone. Prosperity has come for all. On September 21, go out, vote for PDP, and protect your votes,” Ighodalo urged the electorate.

Tony Aziegbemi, the chairman of the PDP in Edo, expressed gratitude to the crowd for their overwhelming support and urged them to turn out in large numbers on election day to secure victory for the party.

The Edo governorship election is scheduled to take place on September 21, with the PDP aiming to retain control of the state through a smooth transition from Obaseki to Ighodalo.
