The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of Olatunji Disu to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), recognizing his remarkable contributions to law enforcement. His official decoration took place on March 25, 2025, marking a significant milestone in his distinguished career.

Disu, who was appointed as the 32nd Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on October 7, 2024, has been widely praised for his strategic leadership and aggressive crime-fighting measures.

Under his command, the FCT saw a drastic reduction in crime rates, making his promotion a well-earned recognition.

Before his tenure as FCT CP, Disu was the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos, where he spearheaded several high-impact security operations.

He also served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, at Force Headquarters, Abuja, and is currently the head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) under the Inspector General of Police.

His vast experience in policing, combined with his background as a judo champion, has significantly contributed to his tactical approach in combating crime across Nigeria.

During his tenure in Abuja, Disu led a series of high-profile operations that resulted in:

245 arrests in a single security operation, followed by 300 more suspects apprehended between February and March 2025.

Major recoveries of arms and ammunition, including 18 AK-47 rifles, English pistols, magazines, locally made weapons, and illicit drugs.

Dismantling of notorious kidnapping and robbery syndicates through aggressive crackdowns in Dei-Dei, Gwarinpa, Jikwoyi, and Maitama.

His Anti-Kidnapping Unit also conducted clearance operations in Gidan-Dogo village, Kweri Forest, Gauraka Forest, and Sardauna Forest, leading to the neutralization of seven kidnappers and the arrest of several others.

Before his assignment in the FCT, Disu served as the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, where he effectively dismantled several notorious criminal networks in just five months. His time in Lagos saw an expansion of RRS operations, which drastically improved public safety through rapid response policing.
