An Akure Magistrates’ Court in Ondo state has ordered the arrest and remand of the commissioner for women affairs, Seun Osamaye, over allegations of assault on Chief Magistrate Temitope Alphonso.

The alleged incident occurred at the Ondo state ministry of women affairs while the magistrate was on official duty. Court documents claim the confrontation followed a judgment the commissioner was unhappy with and escalated into verbal abuse, threats, and physical assault.

Osamaye was absent at the hearing, with her lawyer citing medical treatment at a hospital in Ilara-Mokin. However, the prosecution challenged the medical report presented, and the court ruled it insufficient to justify her absence.

Describing the commissioner’s conduct as contemptuous, the court ordered her immediate arrest and remand, adjourning the case to January 12, 2026.
